Goals:

Jesus calls us to love and serve the sick and poor: Students will get a comprehensive education and hands on ministry experience serving in a well established inner-city mission.


The focus of trip is hands-on service to homeless people, ministry to men, women and children in recovery, and work projects supporting Portland Rescue Mission facilities.


Our group will learn how to love and serve each other as we build a cohesive team environment. We will also gain an in-depth understanding of homelessness, addiction, substance abuse, ministry to homeless men and women in Portland, and the recovery process.

 

 Schedule:

 Thursday July 14th

4:00pm        Arrive in Portland / Check in

         4:30pm         Orientation and Tour Facility

         5:30pm         Eat with   Homeless Guests

         8:00pm         Debrief with PRM Staff

         8:30pm         Team Debrief

         10:00pm        Sleep at Imago Dei Church

 

 Friday, July 15th

 

6:30am        Serve and eat with Guests

8:00am         Clean up facility

9:00am         Agency Tour Downtown Portland / Outreach

12:00pm      Lunch with Residents at Burnside Shelter

1:00pm         Burnside Shelter Service Project

4:00pm         Prepare for evening chapel service

5:00pm         Dinner with Residents at Burnside Shelter

5:30pm        Lead Evening Ministry (dinner and chapel)

          8:30pm         Team Debrief

         10:00pm        Sleep at Imago Dei Church

 

 Saturday, July 16th

 

8:00am         Continental Breakfast

8:30am         Weekend work project (most likely painting)

12:00pm       Lunch at Burnside Shelter

4:00pm         Volunteer / Resident Connection Event (Appreciation/connection event for all PRM volunteers and residents in our men’s program. Canyon View will setup, cook, and serve. PRM will purchase all food.)

6:00pm         Guest Connection Event

          8:30pm          Travel to Burnside Shelter

          9:00pm          Team Debrief

          10:00pm         Sleep at Imago Dei Church

 

 Sunday, July 17th

6:30am         Serve and eat with Guests

9:00am          Church service? Weekend project?

12:00pm       Lunch

1:00pm          Complete Weekend Project

5:00pm         Dinner with Residents at Burnside Shelter

5:30pm          Evening Ministry

          8:30pm          Debrief

          10:00pm        Sleep at Imago Dei Church

 

 Monday, July 18th

6:30am         Serve and eat with Guests

          8:00am          Service Project

          12:00pm        Lunch with Residents

1:00pm          Free time

4:00pm          Meal Hosting at Shepherd’s Door (Canyon View    plan meal and purchase some of the food if necessary)

6:30pm         Shepherd’s Door Activity

8:00pm         Travel to Burnside Shelter

8:30pm         Debrief

10:00pm       Sleep at Imago Dei Church

 

Tuesday, July 19th

6:30am         Serve and eat with Guests

8:00am          Explore Downtown Portland

12:00pm       Lunch with Residents at Burnside Shelter or on your own Downtown Portland.

         1:00pm           Depart Portland

         3:00am           Arrive in Hamilton, MT.


                                

 

Notes:

·       All meals covered by PRM.

·       Canyon View will help purchase one dinner for Shepherd’s Door women and children ($50-100)

·       PRM staff will be available for some of the debrief time.
